The Three Chimneys and The House Over-by

Colbost, Dunvegan, Colbost, Isle of Skye IV55 8ZT, UK – 01470 511258

Having heard that Three Chimney was named Good Food Guide's restaurant of the year, I couldn't resist going there with my parents for lunch. After that meal I have to say that I understand why they received such a nomination. Service-wise, it was impeccable as our wine and water glasses were always refilled without becoming empty, empty plates were removed from the table right away, the dishes were brought to the table for everyone at the same time. As the dishes were placed on the table, they were thoroughly described by one of the servers (what ingredients were used and their sources). As far as the dishes are concerned, they had very good presentations; the choice of ingredients and the creative ways of using them to achieve the desired flavors are amazing.

If you want to visit this restaurant, look at the website and familiarise yourself with the menu. We did this so we're prepared for the prices. The whole experience was excellent. The service was fantastic, observant without being obtrusive. The food was out of this world and a lot more filling then we expected. The help from the staff for particular dietary requirements is second to none. Highly recommended as a treat.

The Old School Restaurant

Dunvegan, Isle of Skye IV55 8GU, UK – 01470 521421

One of the culinary highlights of our 18 day trip to Scotland. Dine in rustic elegance with Scottish folk music playing in the background. Traces of the "old school" can be seen around the room in photos from days gone by as well as the massive chalk board that has the hand written menu for the evening chalked onto it. Delicious vegetarian friendly fare is served by professional wait staff. Vegetarian haggis, made of lentils and served with potato and root vegetable puree was a must try for this plant based chef. Finding non alcoholic Elderberry wine on the bottom of the wine list was delightful. How better to finish the perfect meal than with sticky toffee pudding for 2. Highly recommend the Old School Restaurant. Never forget it!

Very good meal, fresh fish and sea food. We loved the fish soup. They were also really helpful, giving us directions on how to find our bed and breakfast
